Does Tiger Woods deserve this....does anybody?

I know nothing about sports, but I do know a little bit about people. People who strive and toil hard to become the best in the trade which they profess. People who over time become demigods of the human civilizations and even without temples or shrines they hold up so much of the population's spirit that one doesn't care if we win the match or not as long as HE completes his 50th test century.

Yesterday Tiger Woods apologized in front of millions of viewers and fans and sometimes both, for his "irresponsible and selfish behavior", and no, this had nothing to do with golf or the sport that made him a legend. I just wish to ask (since I do not have much knowledge about how a society works), why did he have to apologize to us. Haven't we done more harm to him, than he has to us? Shouldn't it be us who should do all the apologizing (if needed, if any).

When this issue came out of its boxers, I thought that it would fade away soon, that people would soon forget as IndiaTV gets busy finding out more alien infested villages in southern Gujrat and foreign media gets hold of a celebrity in crotchless panties breaking up with her boyfriend, due to their differences over Obama's healthcare policy. But as pathetic and likely to happen as it may sound, it didn't happen. Day after day rumors spread like ink on blotting paper, imprinting on it, faces and names of women from Jakarta to Vegas who could be the possible or probable mistresses in question. A man who toiled for years to become a statue of herculean proportions, was in no time, standing in the shambles of his own dust.

Torn between corporations (who are pissed off at his 'ruined' image) and the media (which is largely responsible for the ruining of the said image) this guy didn't find time or sanity to do the thing he needed to do most, keep his family together. And that is what really tore him apart. Also what is this 'image' anyway? I have heard people saying that he has become a bad influence on children. Grow Up!, and I am not talking to the children (they will grow up on their own anyway). I am talking to the numerous gossip-mongrels who, amidst all commotion, haven't found enough time or interest to imbibe in their kids, the values which would help them differentiate between the good, the bad, the ugly and the dirty. Because normal kids can do that! I have never met any child who wants to become "The Joker" or "Lex Luthor" when he grows up. Inspiration comes from where and when its due, one only needs to spot it right, which if he couldn't or doesn't, is entirely his own fault.

Some may argue that he lost his right to privacy as he chose to become a celebrity. Well so did Kasab lose all his constitutional and human rights as he vengefully chose to vehemently violate the rights of so many. So why is he getting a 'fair trial' ?
If executing kasab live on TV is violation of 'human rights', I dont think anything different happened yesterday.

The gene saturation story that evolution of man has stopped might not need a scientific proof. We as individuals have been reduced to no more than self aware robots; as a society no more than a basket of pebbles and as a civilization......well, that's the last barrier to cross. We make gods out of mere humans and then bask in their fallibility, happily forgetting the growing pile of filth in our own backyard. I just want to ask again....

When are we going to stop killing Michael Jackson(s), stop making Kapil Dev(s) cry, while normal people who don't even know them continue to die in obscurity of starvation, diseases, war and terrorism (last two being synonymous).
